Logging
Connections to the CentralChat IRC servers are logged. This information is used only by the CentralChat administration to spot and troubleshoot connection issues and to track malicious clients. The IP address of any user will not be given to any third party.
The conversations of public or private channels are not logged by CentralChat (with the exception of #chat, see below). Private messages between two chatters are visible only to those chatters and are not logged or intercepted by CentralChat.
Please be aware that, whilst CentralChat may not log conversations, individual chatters may have logging enabled on their chat client and may therefore be logging any messages they receive.
#chat, the main channel of CentralChat, is logged by CentralChat for archive purposes. These logs are publicly visible and will not be subject to modification except in extreme cases (eg. to remove spam attacks, etc).
Nickname or Web account registration
When registering a nickname or Web account you are required to provide a valid email address. This email address will only be used by CentralChat for verification purposes or if you require a new password to be sent to you. There may be other cases where you can opt in to receive extra notifications at your email address, however these options are disabled by default.
Email addresses are hidden from other users by default and will not be sold or distributed to any third party.
After an account has been inactive for ninety days its records (including its associated email address) will be automatically deleted from our servers.
Passwords
Passwords are stored in our database in encrypted form and are not visible to members of staff. It is recommended that you use a unique password on CentralChat as we cannot verify the integrity of any other Web site you may use the same password for.
Cookies
Cookies are required to log in to this Web site. Cookies are used only to identify logged in users and are not used to track users or identify user behaviour. Cookies expire at the end of the session, unless the 'remember me' option is checked when a user logs in.
